ya beat me to it! was gonna paste same info. It LOOKS better than the Spectra(rumored to be the same size /platform for next gen Elantra?). I just HOPE it ends up being better than the current Spectra(sorry Spectra fans). I drove a ECHO before, and my main issues were looks, to be honest. The xa has a ton of room, and about Elantra priced....I dunno folks. We also have SMART supposedly coming here in a few years, with cars and suvs , among others. (13-23K price ranges, or "below avg" car price of 26K for today). This thing had better be 1) More quiet than current Spectra/Elantra 2) More HP(read 145HP vs 135 for todays elantra). If they could do a Elantra (to me) was as quiet as the 01, but "as fast"(feeling) as a 2000, that would be nice. Is it me, or are next gen Hyundai's looking "more conservative" ?? Anyhow, still holding out hopes for that HCD-8!!! ps: read in oct motor trend(?) that by 08 or 098, Hyudnai WILL have a luxury division here, and a RWD SPORTS CAR, which they are TESTING NOW! Are they gonna have a upscale rwd sports car, and a "cheap" fwd car for Hyundai, or will they abandon the "inexpensive" fwd sporty car, adn give it to Kia for 07/08?

I saw someone said the Kenwood will be missed. The reason it was discontinued was because some of the older owners we having trouble working the small buttons. That's it. Don't worry the SE TIb still has it.

Power hungry north americans...
Take a look at Europe people!
there, most cars in this class come standard w/1.4l-1.6l engines. 2.0s are usually offered as "sporty" models. Hell, the even the sonata only has a 131hp 2.0l standard.
Sure, horsepower is nice, but most people don't use the power they have most of the time. Honestly people, a V6 elantra?
On another note, i do agree that automakers should list wheel horse power, as drivetrain efficiency varies greatly between models.

The TCC pictures of the car are actually the new Optima/Magentis. There have been few if any photos of the new Elantra to date.
