Good news to all Sonata lovers. The new 05 is in the test build phase here in Montgomery and I should know, I am helping to build them in general assembly. They are going to be awsome so get ready for the Korean explosion when we start building in march of 05. About 300,000 a year will roll off the line.

It would be a huge risk.
But could you maybe snap some pictures of the NF for us? Nothing would be better! I REALLY want to see it uncovered and we are sooooooo close!

dealership in Indiana told me this weekend that they had seen pictures of the Sonata(said it is out in S Korea right now, the new one) and it is gtotally different from the one on the lots now. I asked him to explain, but he said we were told not to say too much by the big shots,etc.. I did find out(supposedly) that Hyundai will NOT import the S Korean model to USA. Read that Hyundai was gonna do this in December until March of 05, when the Alabama ones roll off of the assembly line. The man said No. Hyundai S Korea wants Hyundai USA to sell all of the 04's out(they think supplies will last until March-April 05?) before the new one's hit the streets. I dunno. This is what i was told, but things could change. I did hear the V6 is coming outta Alabama, and Supposeldy the 4 from S Korea?( why would they Not use the 2.4 liter that will be made in Dundee, Michigan starting this Jan?). Hey, Iread Hyudnai may even supply the Sebring replacement(for Chrysler) with a V6 from Alabama in a year or so(detnews.com).

Wow! That would be neat! The Hyundai Sonata and Sebring sharing engines! Very neat!

For the first year the Sonata's will be split for build and distribution. This is just until the new plant can get to full capacity. I expect that the ones from S.Korea will be the 4cyl since they are coming with a 2.4L and those engines are ready. The new plant should handle the 3.3L being that they will be tooled for that. And why not, new engine, new plant. Please inform your dealer he is not very well informed. Hyundai does not tell their dealers this sort of information be cause we don't want them to get ahead of themselves. They need to sell what they have and not worry about what coming. If I was a jerk I would ask for the dealerships name, but that wouldn't be very cool. Long story short, that guy was blowing smoke up your butt. More than likely he thought you we one of those "I won't buy it unless it was made in the States". He was playing to emotion. The only engine sharing would be the global 4 cyl. Other than that, there is total seperation.

NF looks great. Glad to see the possibility of a NAV system... Any truth to posts I have seen around different boards regarding an AWD version?

Sorry, no AWD yet! Maybe sometime in the future.

Laugh you may, but a Ford Freestyle-style wagon with some tasteful grey cladding would be nice. The new Sonata has the right look for this, by my book.

I guess I have never thought of cladding. The only thing that would make mequestion it (without seeing it of course) would be the backlash Pontiac has always had for their excessive cladding. Designers seem to be going for uncluttered and clean lines. Still, I think it would be interesting to see.

Well, ribbing is horrible. The Ford Freestyle has TASTEFUL cladding, but I am sure there would still be those who chose to beg to differ. Can you pass my idea on? Or atleast mention it to fellow employees?

No promblem Hyundai's designer's actually write down ideas outside of their own (and they have plently, let me tell you).

Hmmm... that strong character line ruins the car Hopefully at launch things are better- wait I jsut remembered that that isn't going to be on production models... that was proved by alot of the other prototypes... woops.
