1) 2004 GLS V6 Ebony.
2) Scion tC, Indigo Blue with automatic.
The 99 sonata turned over 118,003 miles this weekend when we got the Scion. The dealership that worked on my car had it messed up, and claiming I needed another grand worth of work(on top of 2 grand in Aug and July), ....
Wife called me on a the 3rd of sept. the check engine light came on(the car was not wanting to move when put inot gear for awhile) and the tranny was about to go...this was on the 01 tibby at 103,000 miles.
On the Sonata,I blame the DEALERSHIP for the terrible work they did(they worked on radiator, and I needed to put fluid in it almost weekly, like 1 quart a week, but nothing was leaking!).
NEVER (if anyone does read this and lives in nearby Indiana or Ohio... NEVER go to Jeff Wyler Hyudnai, in Sprignfield or Hara Arean Jeff Wyler, in Trotwood, Ohio! CROOKS.).
The guy at the other dealership, where wife went was cool. he knew we had some minor issues and then this tranny business, so he did NOT tell the guys up front about it going, he just said' we reset the engine light and it was a sensor", and he got them to pay the 75 dollars for the scan, due to "trade in"!
IF the Sonata was
"junking out"< I will never know, because the Wyler dealership in Trotwood is , IMHO, Dishonest.
The car ran like a 4 cylinder , it wasa V6, after they got ahold of it, putting fluid in a new radiator every week is uncalled for, and the starter was about to go.
I wish I had went to the other dealership(Will nto mention them, do not want the service mgr to get burned by this'favor" on the tibby, for trade in).
IF the Sonata was "dying"(nickel/dime to death), he would have told us, and we would have dumped it, too, and saved 2 grand(and got our bathroom tub and floor fixed).
The Sonata is nice. One woman in a big old Chrysler was smirking at the Sonata today at college until I cranked up the volume, so to speak ;-) That annoyed her(like her smirks did annoy me). MOST people LIKE the car..even the 70 year old Buy American types came over the day after and I was leaving for class, and they just about crawled into the car via the opened drivers widwo, gawking at the fake wood, and said" You sure are moving upscale these days, aren't you?"(and it was not in a smart mouth toen, either, they were serious. They liked the 99 and this 04).
The tC, well, since the tibby's tranny died out at 38 months, wife said No Way(right now).
We tested a Mazda3(Sharp looking car, lotta gadgets), but , IMHO, it was loud, did not handle so well on the "twisty course" the salewoman took us on, it just seemd liek a sharp looking car(liked the steering column that adjusts to length) but, compared to mother in laws 97 dx protege, it was "crude". It was quiet when you got up to speed and hit the cruise.
I juts thought it'd be like the protege, but " revved up" a few HP(quiet, sporty compact).
We drove an elantra, and it too was loud(compared to the 01 we rented for 10 days in March of 01).
Guess this is "make compacts loud" now?
Maybe hope to drive people to the next level car, spend more cash?
I dunno.
Oh, the tC got looks, also.
On way home, someone in a Grand Prix pulled up ahead of us, then slowed waaay down, then pulled behind us for 3 miles! We caught them blatantly looking at the car, like a dog looking at a t-bone steak!
lol.
See ya.
