Cobalt interior is great. looks better than the GLS Sonata 2006, IMHO.
Look sbetter than our tC(I do enjoy fake wood look of the center console on Cobalt). Gives the car a more upscale feel.
I have not driven one, yet.
My deal is this: 1) it is a chevy, 2) exterior is rather boring, and 3) No 3 door hatch/ sporty-coupe.
Chevy did us horrible back in 89-90.
Spouse does not want a chevy product ever again, duie to poor treatment by 2 dealerships, 2 different states( Virgina and South Carolina, was in military, had to move).
That is the main drawback; dealership treatment when issues arise.
I might be able to get past the 4 doors/bland look.
Who knows? Maybe one day?
Auto Pacific sent us a questionairre about the 04 sonata.
I gave it about a 4,overall.
Said dealerships are sort of lacking, in my area, and wrote a few other comments, like no way would i buy the bland looking 06.
Told them, comfort, quiet, but LOOKS were top 5 for importance in buying a car.
I do not want to drive a boring looking vehicle, no matter what the price.
You can get a decent vehicle(slow, though) at Scion, like xB , for under 15K msrp.
Looks are "different" and seem to be catching on, according to sales of the past 1-2 years.
Toyota is "out-Hyundai-ing - Hyundai" now?
At least in the lower entry level field?
for 15K, the Elantra should looks like "WOW", same ofr new Accent(people call it an egg! ).
The Cobalt can be had with Electric Assist steering (meaning less equiptment to draw on engine, sapping power and MPG, plus better low speed handling ,et al...).
This can be had from prices of under 14K to barely over 18K with leather, etc...
HyundaiKia, ya listening?
Toyota is also bringing out 2 replacements for the ECHO, and the rumored spy photos show some really nice looking rides, loaded up, decent materials, low msrp!
Again, Hyundai/Kia, ya listening/looking?
I am a tiny bit afraid HyundaiKia is doing the "VW".... liek VW did with the jetta-it was cool, a 20K-loaded- "Bimmer" copy, now looks like toyota corolla, and 20K for low end model, up to 26+... and it ain't selling, and lost it's cool-factor-lustre.
While Toyota, and maybe even Nissan and Honda in th enear future, returning to entry level roots, and providing cool cars, low cost, for those who can't afford 20-30K.
I know this is not really supposed 2 be about cars, this thread, but... had no where else I thought would be appropriate to put these ideas/discussion.
anyhow... who knows what we will buy in 4 years+ We had no choice in our last purchase, sicne the 01 tiby tranny died at the dealership/Hyundai.....not like we could pack it up, drive to Scion, or whatever, and get a new car....lol.
I think out of all the cars we have purchased, only 2 were picked out w/o pressure of"car is gonna die prematurely/before pay off, need to dump it asap, to whomever will let us trade it in, Now!"
I would like to say when sonata is paid off(we had to take the 66 month pay off, due ot add ons from Tibby, what we owed, tacked on to the sonata)......I hope ot finally be able to go to Suzuki, or Toyota/Scion, and HyundaiKia, etc... and Finally, w/o pressure, or a dire need to trade in before our vehilce blows up, get a car we really want.
I hope Hyundai makes that HCD-8, at a good price, or a SOnata coupe, FWD...otherwise, we're gone.
