Our 2002 XG is 3 years old and has 51,000 miles on it. Problem has been present to some degree since new but recently has been getting worse. Is quite repeatable under these conditions: 70 mph, level highway, cruise control ON. After starting up a hill, transmission will (appropriately) downshift from 5th gear to 4th. During the shift, car shudders rather violently. After passing the crest of the hill, descending, transmission will (appropriately) upshift from 4th gear into 5th. During the shift, carf shudders rather violently. Before taking this problem up with dealer, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and, if so, whether it has it been diagnosed and solved satisfactorily. Seems like the root problem could be either mechanical or electronic. Thanks
