so the new XG should have a hard time with SM7 since it's pretty much a rebadged Maxima/Teana...

The korean car market is one of the toughest next to china. The koreans like to buy their own brands such as kia, hyundai, and daewoo. They are very closed minded in this aspect but they have a very strong sense of pride in their own products. So i wouldnt expect the sm7 to be a real competior to the xg for a few more years or until something changes in the minds of the koreans.

From everything I have heard as far as assumed performance, equipment, and comfprt features, the XG should kick a s s. (spaced to avoided censorship)

KK this is it. Just don't swear because I would like to lift the censoring on "A S S".

yeah but the SM7 is a Maxima/Teana with korean taste but with japanese (nissan) quality which in my opinion is still way up there when compared Hyundai... everyday Hyundai is improving and as we can see in the spy pics they'll soon catch up to nissan and pass them and pass toyota...

Nissan quality?
Just remember...Kia beat Nissan in JD Power's IQS this year. Nissan, in its rush to roll out lots of new models, has had a lot of trouble keeping the quality up.
Don't get me wrong--I love what Nissan's doing, and the cars they're putting out. But quality remains their major bugaboo, much the same way weight and suspension tuning remain Hyundais'.

Engine R+D / sophistication is Hyundai's problem. That is changing, though, as is Nissan's quality.

Nissan has a few problem vehicles. Armada, Titan, Quest (which is horrible), and the 05 Altima. The Murano, and the Pathfinder are 2 incredibly reliable vehicles.
