The 3.5 liter V-6 became available around May or June, 2003. I believe it's only available in the top-'o-the-line GLS, though perhaps that's changed for the 2004 models. From reading complaints on other Hyundai sites, what Hyundai really needs in the Santa Fe are beefier mechanicals and better seals in the transaxle and 4wd transfer case.

Well it is car-based. I wonder if people are expecting too much judging by its off-road, tough styling theme.

car based is better anyway, since most santa fe owners arent looking to use their suv's like jeeps

I would like to see a 3.0 V6. One of the new Hyundai designs with VVT. I have always found the 2.7 to be adiquate, but a tad more pwoer would be nice; lighter than the 3.5.

If I am correct, I believe the new 3.3L is based off the 3.0L with aluminum head and block. I remember hearing that they had trimed 7% of the weight of the engine while increasing displacement.

Yes, I am not surprised that it is based off that engine, I was wondering, however. Thanks.
