looks like that employee discount has helpd GM tremendously, and even affecting Hyundai! Did not give specfics on hyundai, etc.... but does not sound good, to Lose Sales, even if just a thousand units a month, for example.
I went to a Hyundai-owner appreciation sale/day, Saturday. place had 2 radio station broadcasting, to 2 different ranges of people(oldies station, one for youth group, newer stuff).
Freebies like t-shirts, mini-tool kits, back packs, comedy club tickets, etc.
food, of course.
I spoke to one lady who is a sales person for a few years.
She said sales of the new sonata are not as good as the sales on elantras.....or the few 05 sonata's they have left.
they even had a msrp 28K Amanti(this is a Hyundai/Kia lot!).... for 22K loaded down.
they have about 100 hyundai on th elot, and about (had) 8 2006 sonata's.....sold 2 in 6 weeks.
1 GL, one GLS.... no one buying LX or GLS loaded with extras(mainly selling the 4's, not 6's, due to cost right now).
Lady said if they have rebates of say 1500-2500 , then you will see lx and gls V6's going out the door more readily.
I wonder how many vehicle sales GM may b taking?
I know they had a Bucik La Crosse for 20K.... with GM discount(not to mention anythign you may be able to "bargain off" msrp).
Kind of remind sme, in a ways, fo 02-05 sonata.
Tons of Malibu sedan for 18-20K, wih V6.
Hmmmmm, if GM keeps these prices, ro soemthign close to it, these other companies will have ot match 'em, somehow.
