www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=7857&sid=178&n=158I think they are trying too hard to blend in. Yes, there is still a touch(albeit very slight) of "quirkyness" to their design(see front end)... but... to me, it mainly looks like other designs, say the sides, etc... Spouse is not happy with past 2 Hyundais(dead set against another)... I (for now) like Hyundai, our 04 sonata is good(HOPE it hangs in there with nary a problem for at least 150,000, or no more Hyundais:-( Anyhow, even if this sonata lasts, and spouse will co-sign with me for a new car in 4 years.... if they "look bland".....Scion may be there to help? What do you think? tryint too much to "fit in"? Will it hurt/help?

ITS A VERY VERY VERY BAD PCHOP! CMON please tell me you knew that?! Hardly any of the body lines in the camo model match up with the pchop model. I mean its just obvious.
And we all know you dont like hyundai anymore so just move on already. If you want a car that will last 150,000 miles with nary a problem then you need to ride the bus cause it aint gonna happen.
end rant.

ok. we own a 04 sonata. spouse is not thrilled, i am, with it. ok? I just think that since Toyota is doing Scion(bx or whatver, sells like nearly 5000 units per month, xa 2,300 or so, and tc, 3,300 avg) they LOOK ODD....and lotta people predicted that no one would buy the "box" bx, whatever it is called, yet, old and young are buying it like wild fire. They are doing "they Hyundai", so to speak( santa fe looks like it could almost fit into "SCION" group, and it sells over 100,000+ units per year, this will be year 2 of 100K+ sales. No One I read is saying"they change the looks and i'll buy one"....). I read on another site they LIKE the "odd" looks. A few owners are not too thrilled, but they are the minority.
GM's coming out with a (IMHO Cruiser knock off, with more std HP though) vehicle either as an 06 or 07 model, based on the Cobalt platform/engine.
Normally "conservative" Toyota/GM/Chrylser are doing "wild" designs for next few years, even if just a few vehicles, to garner attention, and sales. Hyundai should sitck with their "odd looking' stuff, that was my point.
I do not hate Hyundai(maybe the dealerships are getting tight about their 10/100K, but I won''t start up on that again).
I just don't know what the future holds. no one really does.
If Scion has something cool out still in 09-10, i'll look, same for Suzuki, I hope they improve the Reno alot, SMART may/may not get here, but if it does..... may check them out also. Same for Hyundai, all goes well over next few years, and they have something that does not quite look like anything else on the street(like 01 Tibby, for example), I will also check that out, or Kia, if they make Kia the "sporty- youth-group".
Can not say, since owned GM and Nissan stuff also.

Didn't bother to read the full rant, too much reading but I did catch the part about the warranty and dealers. Hyundai warranties the cars, dealers just fix them. They have no say in what is warranty and what is not. That is the way it is with any manufacturer. It is completely up the the maker what is considered a warranty item and what is not. And quite often people get pisses at a maker for not covering something under warranty the the consumer broke by abusing the vehicle (not saying you do, just a general statement). Hyundai is exceptional at covering warranty claims, in fact they are more in-depth in their coverage than ANY mainstream (non-luxury) maker. The problem is most people never bother to read their warranty insert with their owners manual and expect REGULAR MAINTENECE items to be covered, which is rediculous.
