took a 15 minute test drive on the 27th. Had the salesman ride with me. He knew a fair amount of what the deal was, but he was pushy. Anyhow, I like the heardroomA(more than my 1999 Sonata has), and that weird "latch" in th etrunk, if you want the back seats to fold down, (to put stuff into the trunk/back seat) you have the latch right there. Interior was decent, beige/gray (2 tone). Pick Up seemed slower than GT Elantra( may just have been due to me taking it easy due to the salesman riding with). Brakes were great. Only the seat was a bit awkard, due to the ":rachet" style of moving the 8 way seat. I think I like the Elantra(GT hatch) seats best, but this one was acceptable in the Spectra. I would perhaps buy one, even, if sales, etc, were right. They have a 1000 Cash Back, and 1000 cash back (Told the guy I drive Hyundai, and he said something like that would qualify for the extra grand off), so the price would have been somewhere around 15, 199 or so. ( make it more like 14Grand.... yes. Hyundai does seem to load their cars down more w/ std equipment, for a tiny bit less $$$). Will wait and see what the next gen Elantra/Sonata bring . Overall grade? At least a B. For brakes, interior cloth, styling of exterior(and interior is ok, as is where wheel is on dash)... A-. "Pick-UP", maybe a C+. Radios , C. Decent vehicle, overall.
